Selection Process

• Phase 1: Candidates must appear for the APTET Written Examination (Paper I for Classes I-V or Paper II for Classes VI-VIII).
• Phase 2: Successful candidates who meet the qualifying criteria will proceed to the document verification stage.
• Phase 3: A final merit list will be prepared based on the scores obtained in the APTET examination.

• The APTET exam will be conducted online as a computer-based test (CBT).
• The total duration of the examination is 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes).
• Candidates can choose to take the exam in English and a Language I of their choice from Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, or Odiya.
• Each correct answer will fetch 1 mark.
• There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers, encouraging candidates to attempt all questions.

Language II (English)

• Comprehension: Reading unseen passages (prose and poetry).
• Grammar: Parts of speech, tenses, active/passive voice, direct/indirect speech, articles, prepositions, conjunctions, sentence transformation.
• Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, word formation, phrasal verbs.
• Pedagogy of Language Development: Principles of language teaching, role of listening and speaking, functions of language, challenges of teaching language in a diverse classroom, language skills, evaluation of language comprehension and proficiency.

Social Studies (Paper 2A)

• History: Ancient, Medieval, and Modern Indian History, World History.
• Geography: Physical Geography, Indian Geography, World Geography, Environmental Geography.
• Civics/Political Science: Indian Constitution, Government (Local, State, Central), Democracy, Human Rights.
• Economics: Basic economic concepts, Indian economy, development.
• Pedagogy: Concept & Nature of Social Science/Studies, Classroom Processes, activities & discourse, Developing Critical thinking, Enquiry/Empirical Evidence, Problems of teaching Social Science/Studies, Sources – Primary & Secondary, Project Work, Evaluation.

Category of Disability Specialization and Pedagogy (Paper 2B)

• This section focuses on understanding various disabilities, their characteristics, identification, and educational implications.
• Topics include types of disabilities (e.g., intellectual disability, learning disability, visual impairment, hearing impairment, autism spectrum disorder), assessment tools, and intervention strategies.
• Emphasis on inclusive education principles, individualized education plans (IEPs), teaching methods for diverse learners, and assistive technologies.
• Knowledge of relevant acts, policies, and schemes for persons with disabilities.

• Understand the Syllabus Thoroughly: Begin by meticulously going through the entire APTET syllabus for your chosen paper (Paper I or Paper II). Identify your strong and weak areas.
• Master the Exam Pattern: Familiarize yourself with the marking scheme, number of questions per section, and total duration. This helps in time management during the actual exam.
• Create a Study Schedule: Develop a realistic daily and weekly study plan, allocating sufficient time to each subject based on its weightage and your proficiency.
• Focus on Child Development & Pedagogy: This section is common to all papers and carries significant weight. Dedicate ample time to understanding theories, principles, and practical applications.
• Practice Language Sections: Regularly practice unseen passages, grammar rules, and vocabulary for both Language I and Language II (English).
• Solve Previous Year Papers: Work through APTET Previous Year Question Papers (PYQs) to understand the question format, difficulty level, and important topics.
• Take Mock Tests: Regularly attempt full-length mock tests to simulate exam conditions, improve speed, and identify areas needing more practice.
• Revision is Key: Consistently revise all subjects, especially important formulas, theories, and factual information. Make short notes for quick revision.
• Stay Updated: For General Knowledge or current affairs related sections (if applicable), stay updated with recent developments.
• Maintain Health: Ensure proper sleep, nutrition, and breaks to avoid burnout and maintain focus.
